Tokyo, SANA – Syria participated in the 24th JAALA International Art Exchange Exhibition – 2025, organized by the Japan, Asia, Africa and Latin America Artists Association, at the Tokyo Museum of Art.
Syria’s participation came through the artist Dana Al-Nafouri, who is a PhD student in archaeology at the University of Tsukuba in Japan.
Her participation in this work embodies Syria’s entry into a new era, hoping that the future of Syria will be blessed with goodness and economic prosperity.
In a lecture following the exhibition, Al-Nafouri highlighted Syria’s history from prehistoric times through the Stone Age, Roman, Islamic, and modern eras, up to the Syrian Revolution. She explained in detail concepts such as the Levant and West Asia, clarifying the differences between these terms in a simplified manner suitable for a Japanese audience.
The current edition of the exhibition, featuring artists from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, Syria, and other countries, is one of Tokyo’s most prominent cultural and artistic exchange events. A day has been dedicated to introducing Syria’s artistic and cultural history.
